Frequently Asked Questions
What do I need to qualify?
You need an active California TCP permit (Class A, B, or P), an active Uber Black or Lyft Lux driver account with a 4.85+ rating, a clean driving record with no at-fault accidents in the past 3 years, and at least 6 months of rideshare driving experience. We verify all of these during the screening process.
What's the security deposit?
$500–$750 refundable security deposit, paid before vehicle pickup. The deposit is returned in full when you return the vehicle in the same condition (normal wear excepted). We use GPS-verified, timestamped photo inspections at check-in and check-out — you're never charged for pre-existing damage.
How does payment work?
Weekly automatic payment via Uber's Fleet Portal (deducted from your Uber earnings before payout) or ACH bank transfer. Your rental is due every Monday. No manual payments, no chasing invoices.
Can I drive for both Uber and Lyft?
Absolutely. All BAF vehicles qualify for Uber Black SUV and Lyft Lux Black XL simultaneously. We encourage multi-platform driving to maximize your earnings and utilization.
What if the vehicle breaks down?
Call our 24/7 roadside assistance line. For mechanical issues requiring shop time, we provide a swap vehicle from our reserve fleet within 4 business hours. You don't lose a day of work. This is our most important commitment to you.
Is there a mileage limit?
No. There is no mileage cap for platform driving (Uber, Lyft). Drive as much as you want on the platforms. The vehicle is yours to operate for commercial rideshare use.
What if I want to return the vehicle?
Give us 7 days' written notice. No penalty, no early termination fee. Return the vehicle to our Miramar facility, complete the check-out inspection, and your deposit is returned within 10 business days. Week-to-week flexibility is a core promise.
Can I use the vehicle for personal trips?
The vehicle is for commercial rideshare and licensed TCP transportation use only. Personal use is not covered under our commercial insurance policy. This protects both you and us.
Do you offer diesel vehicles?
Yes. We maintain a fleet mix of 3.0L Duramax diesel and 5.3L/6.2L gas Suburbans and Yukons. Diesel vehicles are available on a first-come, first-served basis and are popular due to their 25+ MPG fuel economy (vs. 18 MPG gas), saving you $250–$300/month.
Where is your facility?
Our fleet facility is located in the Miramar area of San Diego, with direct access to I-15, I-805, and I-5. Central to SAN airport, downtown, and all major San Diego destinations. Secure, paved, and professionally operated.
How quickly can I get into a vehicle?
From application to keys in hand typically takes 7–14 days, depending on how quickly your TCP and Uber account can be verified. If your documentation is in order, we've placed drivers in vehicles in as little as 5 business days.
